In 1988 I earned my Bachelor of Science In Music Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania where I studied both the oboe and piano. I have enjoyed teaching piano privately, as well as in my classroom at the elementary level for over 20 years. Prior to the start of my 25 year career in the public school system I was employed by a private school in Pennsylvania as a music therapist and alternative school music educator where I had the opportunity to work with some of the most unique learners in the country.
My personal teaching style utilizes a variety of modalities and multi-sensory approaches designed to prepare students for a lifetime of music making, literacy and enjoyment.
I love the curiosity and energy children bring to learning a new skill. Their enthusiasm is infectious and incredibly rewarding for me. My favorite moment is seeing the look of accomplishment on a student's face when he or she masters something believed too difficult just a few moments before.
I am proud to offer private preschool lessons for ages 3-5 and beginner through intermediate piano lessons.
